With most of my recent ancestors hailing from Holland, it is a foregone conclusion that I would be prone to Tulip-Worship. I offer no defense, as my Petal Portraits Tulips portfolio clearly shows how enamored I am with this stately flower. I read where there may be more than 3,000 varieties of tulips, but it is those individual tulips that I have known photographically that define the whole population of them for me.
The tulip is a flower that looks simple in its construction, but when viewed up close and intimately, it becomes an engineering marvel.
