This orange rose was photographed with only natural sunlight coming from above to highlight the texture of the flower and to show off the beauty and mystery of the structure of the rose.

have a favorite view of the Rose. I like to look closely at it when it is backlit by the sun. The outermost petals are bright and, if the rose is a light color, most of the light passes easily through them to illuminate the next row of petals. This next set of petals also allows the light to pass through, but they also keep some of it for themselves. This sequence keeps happening until very little light illuminates the center of the rose, where new petals are tightly wrapped around each other and mystery abounds.
