Japanese Iris Blade Notecard

Japanese Iris Blade Notecard

from $6.00

This is a magical view of just one part of a Japanese Iris. It looks like a blade with rough edges, and when looked at closely, it sparkles like a field of blue diamonds.

Petal Portraits Notecards are 5” x 7” when folded and include an envelope. The images were made using only natural sunlight with minimal retouching. The cards are printed on paper that is designed to show off the vibrant colors on the outside and have a surface on the inside you can easily write on.

Each card is printed individually by the photographer and inspected prior to packaging and shipment.

What impresses me most about the Japanese Iris is its structure. The structure itself is the main ally the sun has when it illuminates the secret spaces and looks of this flower. The petals are translucent enough so that when lit from behind by the sun, they take on a soft blue and seem to vibrate with the sun’s touch. Unlike its cousin, the Bearded Iris, this flower’s structure has more space to it and therefore more opportunities to isolate a petal or the space where two parts join in a union of softness and secrecy.
