The sturdy petals of the yellow Calla are smooth and your eyes travel easily along them, until the petals curl back. The curve causes your eye to slow down and observe more, and in observing more, you appreciate more.
Petal Portraits Notecards are 5” x 7” when folded and include an envelope. The images were made using only natural sunlight with minimal retouching. The cards are printed on paper that is designed to show off the vibrant colors on the outside and have a surface on the inside you can easily write on.
Each card is printed individually by the photographer and inspected prior to packaging and shipment.
To me the main characteristic of the Lily family is boldness. They’re all about showing off all their assets, so to speak. The petals are generally, large, thick and waxy, and their reproductive parts are boldly on display for all to see. Not exactly playing hard-to-get from a bee’s perspective.
Ah, but when they are touched by the Light, the thick petals become luminous and create a softly-colored canvas upon which shadows fall. The petals themselves become a study in curves as they reach out to the Light and then curl back, slowing our eyes and causing to think more deeply about this bold display in front of us.
